11/27/2008 Need your opinion.Wanted to see if anyone had an opinion on a rotation workshop I was considering using for Sunday School to teach the 23rd Psalm. I thought of doing a "MAD LIBS" thing where I take out crucial words in this passage and have the kids fill in the blanks by asking them for nouns, adjectives and so on... then reading the verse to them which is sure to sound funny... then going back with them and having them try to figure out what the REAL words should be. I thought this would be a good way to have them learn the verse.
My only fear is that this may be somewhat sacrilegious and distrespectful. Am I being overly sensitive? 11/24/2008 Yes it was okMy birthday was fine. I got some very nice gifts and I have used every single thing I got in one way or another. This is the first birthday I have had where I am starting to FEEL older. I suppose it is all the subtle changes I have noticed over this past year, I'm getting more grays- I even started to notice a few more little wrinkles that never were there before, and the arthritis in my knees gives me trouble periodically now where it was non-exsistant less than 2 years ago. I am not sure when a person becomes "old" anymore. Certainly I have a long ways to go, but for the first time I can see it distantly on the horizon.

11/20/2008 Old Timey WisdomI am contemplating the words "Neither a borrower nor lender be" this evening which I had in my head was from Ben Franklin because it sounds like something he would say. Actually I was wrong, it is Shakespeare, Hamlet specifically.
LORD POLONIUS: But now after doing a little digging I find Ben Franklin DID say it too, which makes him a bit of a copycat. Ben Franklin was the originator of a Penny Saved is a Penny Earned, though. Art with corrugated cardboard: 11/19/2008 VideosAfter two years of having an MP3 player that could do video, I finally downloaded some videos from YouTube for the first time (I found a cool program to do this with for free). I watched them while I worked out on the elliptical and the stationary bike. It passed the time really well.
Today we have choir early (at 6) and it will go until 8. Not so excited about going because I feel tired.
![]() 11/18/2008 TuesdayI finally have some of the photos from David's visit up. It was a nice time, I wish the weather would have been a bit more hospitable and we could have done more "stuff". There was a rumor he may be back in town in June for another training session at Gallup. So that would be fun.
But now I am focusing on this week. I feel like I have a million things to do, and none of them are very exciting. November is already half over. I don't know where the time is going. It is weird how just working part time can really impact the "free time" I used to have to do all the things that now I am not doing. My house is messy, I have things I need to do... and nothing is getting done. At least I still keep up with the laundry. I don't know how in the world people manage having kids/house and a full time job plus all the other extra things that go as a normal part of life. Hats off to them.
MC Escher Car. ![]() 11/12/2008 DavidTim's Brother David arrived last night. Payton was very excited about it. He's in town for Training at Gallup so he opted to stay here with us until Sunday.
It works out well because Tim and David can just ride into work together.
This week at work I have been back to I guess what you would call data entry. It's pretty boring this week. I am hoping for a more exciting project after this one is done, but this is just the nature of my job. I never know what I'll do next and it could be fun or in this case, boring.
11/10/2008 StuffI wanted to share a couple pics from last Sunday at church:
He LOVES her so much. He is always so excited when she gets to come over.
Tim also had a concert Sunday afternoon with his men's group the Noteables. it
was their 25th Anniversary Concert.
11/7/2008 WHERE is that smell coming from?!?So I wake up and smell something. Skunk. In the house. I go sniffing. It is in the living room, and basement, but not as strong in the rest of the house. I smell my outdoor cats, they don't seem to smell like skunk - mostly just damp cat because it is snowing outside. I sniff outside, I sort of smell skunk but faintly. I go all around trying to figure out the source, it seems I smell it most in the front of the house, but still no more potent than what you smell INSIDE the house. I can't come up with anything, but it seems to smell worse inside than outside (maybe because there is no wind to carry off the scent in the house.)
I was so worried that Payton would freak out because he makes a big production when he smells something bad. So I didn't mention the stink to him when I woke him up hoping maybe the scent wasn't as strong as I thought. He said right away "Mom what is that smell?" I said "Smell? What does it smell like?" he says "It smells sweet!" I said "So you like it?" and he said "yea!" So Payton likes the smell of skunk.
Anyway - I turned off the furnace in case it was circulating through the ductwork. A lady where I worked suggested putting essential oils in the furnace filter and to stick some on the filter in my vacuum to make the house smell better. So I am going to try that. Anyone else have any ideas, besides just get used to it until it goes away?
![]() 11/6/2008 Meh.This week is dragging on forever. I have not worked out since Monday? I think monday. I just can't get up at 5:45 this week to go work out. And today it's been so gloomy.
As a side note I took Payton with me to Vote on Tuesday, and when we left someone asked who he voted for and he said "I voted for Daddy".
![]() 11/1/2008 TV was a hit.I admit I was surprised by the stir that Payton's costume caused. At school when I was dropping him off (it was costume day for the whole school so it wasn't like he was the only one dressed up) the entire playground stopped when the on duty teacher said Oh Look a TV!!! And all the kids came running up to see Payton. Upon reflection this was the only homemade costume I saw so perhaps that explained it. But even later when we went to Gallup's Halloween party he got lots of interest in his costume. But again, I don't think I saw one homemade costume in the whole group. So even though I don't think it was the most well done costume, I guess the key is "Homemade". I wonder if I shouldn't be proactive and subtly "suggest" what Payton should be next year to ensure I can make it.
According to the website, the horse was rescued, but it took the whole fire department to do it. |
